SPADE (Stratospheric Photochemistry, Aerosols and Dynamics Expedition)
The Stratospheric Photochemistry, Aerosols and Dynamics Expedition (SPADE) was the first field mission dedicated to assessing the potential environmental impacts of a proposed fleet of high-altitude supersonic aircraft. The primary mission goal was to determine the fate of emitted particles and gases in the mid-latitude air traffic corridors. ACATS-II measured CFC-11, CFC-113, and CH4 as part of the ER-2 payload.
