NOAA Research Scientist Profile
Dr. Kathryn McKain is a research scientist with the Cooperative Institute in the Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder and an affiliate of the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory. The focus of Dr. McKain's research is atmospheric measurements of greenhouse gases, particularly from airborne platforms, in support of long term monitoring and as part of multiple campaign-level projects. In this capacity, Dr. McKain contributes to measurement system design and characterization, field operation, data analysis, archiving, and dissemination, and publication of results. In graduate school, Dr. McKain studied under Steve Wofsy at Harvard University, and focused on ground-based measurements and greenhouse gas emissions quantification in urban environments.
