The seventh Trans-Siberian Observations Into the Chemistry of the Atmosphere (TROICA-7) expedition was conducted from a railway car traveling along 17,000 km of the fully-electrified trans-Siberian railway between Moscow and Khabarovsk, Russia. This campaign was a collaboration between NOAA/CMDL, the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (Mainz, Germany), and the Russian Institute of Atmospheric Physics (Moscow). The primary objective for ACATS-IV was to measure halocarbon and greenhouse gases along the trans-Siberian railway, creating a database to which future TROICA measurements of these gases can be compared. NOAA/GMD participation in TROICA-7 produced the first extensive set of halocarbon measurements in Russia by American scientists.
